Stone is one of the most underrated aspects of a landscape. While trees and plants might be the first thing you think about purchasing for your landscape, stone should always be part of the plan. Landscaping with stone provide focal points and adds vertical features to otherwise flat areas. We have a wide assortment of native Texas Sandstone, along with Oklahoma and Colorado Flagstone in a variety of colors and thicknesses. Whether you want Austin Stone, Moss boulders, or Ledge Stones, we have you covered. And, we have been helping landscapers in East Texas for over 10 years.

All stone can be purchased by the pound or in pallets.  Photos are only a representation of product color, shape, size, and texture.  The actual stone will have variations.

Mulch is an attractive and important part of the landscaping process for a variety of reasons.

When landscaping in East Texas, mulch must be done correctly because it will keep your soil cool when those hot Texas summers roll around. Mulch also prevents the loss of water from soil, is an effective weed barrier, and keeps your soil warm in the winter. Keeping soil at the right temperature year-round is important because it promotes a healthy landscape.

One cubic yard of mulch covers approximately 150 square feet at 2” deep.

Mulch and Bark is a product of nature; as such, color and size may vary.

Our high-quality mulch will help you with the following:

  • Conserve moisture

  • Improve fertility and soil health

  • Reduce weed growth

  • Enhance the visual appeal of the area

Because mulch plays an integral role in keeping your landscaping healthy and visually appealing, we offer a huge range of mulches. To find out which type of mulch will be right for your project, contact us today.

Sod is a great option for establishing a lawn quickly while lowering the risk of soil eroding, reducing noise pollution, and providing a cooling effect. The heat of the summer and dryness of the winter is notorious for killing grass in East Texas. Landscapers trying to fix dead, brown grass often buy sod in bulk in order to repair lawns. But, there is more to just buying sod and laying it down.

In order to reap the long-term benefits of your sod purchase, the proper steps must be taken during the process. Failure to follow these steps may cause damage to your sod.

Before installation:

  • Chemically kill and remove existing lawn in the area where you'll be laying sod

  • Make sure the lawn surrounding your sodded area is adequately watered and growing

  • Apply a herbicide to the entire lawn

  • Make sure your sod is not on the pallet for more than 24 hours

After installation:

  • Water within the first few hours to eliminate dehydration to the grass

  • Water thoroughly to make sure your soil is moist on a daily basis

  • For the most effective results, water during the morning or daytime hours.

At Nix Landscape supply, we offer St. Augustine, Tiff Bermuda, Celebration Bermuda, Centipede, and Zoysia, as we find them to work best in our climate. To find out more about sods, or to place an order, contact us today.
